St. Augustine has a long and storied history with golf. After all, the World Golf Hall of Fame is close by. Our city also happens to be smack dab in the middle of some of the best golf courses in the state.

If you are looking for excellent places to tee off, don’t worry. This guide will let you know where to play golf in St. Augustine.

World Golf Village

  • Address: 1 World Golf PL, St. Augustine, FL
  • Hours: Mon - Sat: 8 AM - 9 PM; Closed Sunday
  • Distance from us: ~ 15 miles

Home to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the World Golf Village is the most well known hub for golfing in the entire area, and one of the most popular in Florida. Thanks to the PGA Tour Golf Academy, you can get customized instruction that will help improve your game, no matter your skill level.

The World Golf Village has two well known courses: the King & Bear, and the Slammer & Squire.

King & Bear

The King and Bear golf course gets its name from two of the most prolific golfers of all time: Arnold “The King” Palmer and Jack “The Golden Bear” Nicklaus. This course is a result of the only design collaboration between the two legends.

The course offers an 18-hole 7,279-yard layout with a perfect blend of greens, fairways, bunkers, and water hazards that are simply gorgeous to behold. Golfers of all skill levels will appreciate that this course has no ‘hidden agendas’. In other words, the main focus can be on working and perfecting on striking the ball well, especially with the numerous wide fairways on the course. With distinctive nines and reasonable pars throughout, the King & Bear golf course is an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.

Slammer & Squire

One of the main focuses during the design of the Slammer & Squire was to feature and preserve the rugged beauty of the area while still rewarding good shot making. The result is an 18-hole, 6,939-yard, challenging course that features wetlands and unspoiled forest while maintaining a relatively wide open course.

Unlike its counterpart, the Slammer & Squire focuses more on the short game. This golf course is known as the easier of the World Golf Village courses, but it still will challenge even the most experienced golfers.

St. Augustine Shores Golf Club

  • Address: 707 Shores Blvd, St. Augustine, FL
  • Hours: Daily 7 AM - 6 PM
  • Distance from us: ~ 9 miles

The St. Augustine Shores Golf Club has a drastically different focus in its design when compared to the previous golf courses. While still offering some challenges, the course here is more focused on being affordable and fun to play.

This 18-hole, 5956-yard course is ideal for golfers who are beginners as well as those with intermediate experience. On the front nine, there are multiple tees that limit the amount of forced carries for beginners. The back half adds in water hazards that provide some challenge. With gentle elevation changes throughout, St. Augustine Shores Golf Club’s course provides a non-intimidating atmosphere, a feel that is intentionally cultivated through the staff’s customer service.
